Howdy –
My “musing” has been a bit sketchy as we were away – as you probably know. Elaine and I really enjoyed six weeks on the road in Priscilla. We crossed the U.S. on our way to Michigan (to visit family). It really was a great trip and I can heartily recommend it to anyone thinking of making a longer trip in their rig. We were careful to avoid Sturgis (and all the bikers) on our way east but came back through the Badlands. If South Dakota has some rain, it is quite green. It really is fascinating. Sunsets over Lake Superior and Lake Michigan are fabulous. I have never experienced those mid-west thunder and lightening storms before. Coming home we took a ferry across Lake Michigan (4 hours) in glorious sunshine. [it’s enormous!] Mount Rushmore was impressive and the Crazy Horse Monument even more impressive. Wall, S.D. (of Wall Drug fame) is well. . . . Wall.
Shortly after we got home we had a very fun evening. Judy, Jo, Barb and Jeanette “claimed” their auction item: dinner prepared and served by yours truly and Ms. Vanna. We did a Dutch dinner called “Gourmetten”. A variety of marinated meats are cooked at the table on a griddle, along with salad and bread. We finished up with the requested lemon pie. Oh yes, and some appropriate ‘adult beverages’ (as Vanna’s brother calls them). Here are a couple of snapshots of that evening:
What about you? Have you claimed your auction item? Did you take any photos? We’d love to see them.
I’m looking forward to our adventures at Howard Miller Park in a couple of weeks. I hope you are all planning to be there or making arrangements to send in an absentee ballot for our election of officers. (Or handing it to me in San Antonio). Mary S. will appreciate all our support at she takes over the helm of this great organization. See you soon.
