Hoodsport Sept 08 Cascadia Outing
There were several Thursday folks who came early. Then Friday brought in the rest of us. Cascadia members pause to look out over Hood Canal.
About 100 yards from the Park, I had a blow-out in one of my inside tires. We limped in and called for help. While a new tire was being put on, a call for help came from a campsite above. Jill P. saw an elderly man fall off the roof of his vehicle, and Jill hollered for help. Diane D, MD, and nurse Linda A were on their way, and stabilized the gentlemen, while 911 was dialed. He was airlifted to a hospital in Seattle. Many thanks to the prompt action by our Cascadia Medical team.
A meeting was held of the website committee: (Kit A, Diane M, Laurie A, Dorene T, Marne P, Pat L and Mary S, Diane D.) Miriam R was recording secretary: Suggestion by Diane D to work a solution to those that register for events to give feedback of their application, as a record for the registrees.
We were delighted to welcome seven new members: Betty Lou A, Gail Y, Joan T, Lana W, Pam W, Diane M and Sue K.
Saturday, a reading by Rebecca Redshaw , an author and playwright, of her books "Dear Jennifer". Thank you, Rebecca, and thanks to the Sequim WA ladies for bringing her to us. The reading was wonderful and very much enjoyed by all.
Special guest Rebecca Redshaw read from her book "Dear Jennifer".
Diane and Beamer were in charge of events, and what a wonderfully entertaining event they had to introduce our Hi There Girls and Divas to us. They ceremoniously draped the scarves around their necks and were quite formal with the presentation which made us all erupt with laughter.
| Beamer takes her job as event captain seriously, acting as traffic cop on Highway 101 as we cross to go to another rig christening.
I know there were several personal political discussions, a conversation about the antics of birds and simply a lot of hanging out and connecting. It was nice to see Mary B and Kathy O. Mary B continues on her competitive quest for Para-Olympic medal in Vancouver in 2010. She has been traveling the world and competing in World Cup events. Our continued good wishes, good luck, and support goes to her.
The managers of the RV Park got fresh oysters out of the Bay, and we had a wonderful Oyster, clam, and seafood night at our Saturday dinner. The rest of the evenings were spent with a huge 15 member Texas Holdem game, and many board games going on in various places in the clubhouse.
President Dorene T. addresses us before Saturday night's dinner
Sunday morning found us christening new RV's with our Apple Cider 'champagne'.
No event would be complete without our rig christening tradition.
It was sad to say goodbye, as some of us can't be at our last meeting, but we'll meet again down South or at the beginning of our next year event, in March.
