Chapter and Board History

The Cascadia chapter was born in 1999 while the RVW national convention was being held in Enumclaw, WA. A number of attendees from Washington and British Columbia signed a petition to form a new chapter, and over that winter, RVW approved our Chapter.

Barbara J. Nelson is considered our "founding mother," as she led the organizational effort to form the chapter, and led the first organized events during the 2000 season until the first elections were held. From those small beginnings, the Cascadia Chapter has continued to grow rapidly  through the years and is now the largest and probably most active RVW chapter in the nation.

The table below captures the history of the chapter's officers over the years.

1 Secretary became a standalone position starting with the 2007 season
2 Treasurer became a standalone position (apart from Secretary-Treasurer) starting with the 2007 season
3 Registrar was added as a new board position starting with the 2007 season.

Special thanks also goes to two charter members of the chapter from north of the border, Pat and Rita. The Canadian liaisons are appointed positions and not addressed in the Bylaws, therefore they are not considered official Board members. However, they are very important as they field many questions each year from Canadians who are interested in RVW and they play a major PR role. The number of Canadians actively involved in our Chapter activities has increased greatly, largely due to the efforts of Pat and Rita. Thank-you, Pat and Rita for your service to the chapter all these years!
